Position Summary

The Navis Project Manager is responsible for establishing and leading client-wide, cross-functional, strategic implementations of enterprise software for marine container terminals. Project managers lead a variety of different types of projects including implementing new products and services, large-scale terminal automation projects,

application and terminal upgrades, operational efficiency improvements, terminal process design, and infrastructure upgrades and deployments.

  • Direct complex enterprise software projects often involving multiple internal and external constituents and matrix partners
  • Directly manage all aspects of the project and works with client and partner resources to oversee all phases and activities of a project
  • Serve as single accountable party for defining, planning, orchestrating, and delivering a given strategic implementation, and represents the project in project governance forums
  • Inspire customer confidence through professional presence and self-confidence; represents Navis to the client, while also representing the client to Navis
  • Incorporate risk-mitigation strategy and contingency planning into project approach
  • Ensure end results are of the highest caliber with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit; presents a value-based perspective to customers; actively manages scope to meet client and Navis budget, schedule and quality goals
  • Develop the project charter, integrated project plan, resource plan, contingency plan, risk mitigation plan, and related project management artifacts
  • Validate financial forecasts and provides on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures
  • Develop project communication plans and interface with client resources to ensure full and complete project communication to all key constituents; maintains project dashboard, both internal and client and publishes periodic project status reports
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives
  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan; proposes recommendations and adjustments to the project plan as necessary
  • Lead and participate in initiatives within Navis; develops sales proposals and deliver sales presentations as required
  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, execute with limited information and ambiguity, and influence all parties to achieve desired response
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed environment
  • Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure
  • Degree in Business, Depot Operations and Logistics, Marine Operations, Computer Science or related disciplines
  • 5-7 years experience within a professional services organization, consulting firm or systems integrator
  • Demonstrated experience for establishing and deploying large, complex and fixed bid projects
  • Experience using, implementing or upgrading Navis Products (preferred)
  • PMP or Prince2 Certified; demonstrates exemplary core project management skills
  • Excellent written, oral presentation, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Previous experience working for a consulting firm or system integrator
  • Willing to travel 50% or greater
  • Able to work extended hours under tight deadlines to successfully meet objectives
