Software Engineer


Position Summary

Looking for a talented software engineer to join our product group team (dedicated to Rail operations). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to be a part of a growing team and a thriving organization. You will work with a team of domain and automation experts who are designing, building, and continually upgrading an integrated, end-to-end system supporting the automation and optimization of Rail operations in Marine terminals and Intermodal terminals. The role will have high visibility in Navis.


  • Design and develop high-quality front-end (Vue, React, or Angular)
  • Work with Product Management and other engineers in the team to understand design requirements and provide estimates for development
  • Stay current with the latest front-end technologies and best practices and share your findings with the team
  • Work as part of an agile team across a variety of application domains
  • Work closely with our designers to help realize a cohesive user experience across the entire lending lifecycle
  • Troubleshooting issues with existing architecture and code
  • Strong focus on designing and implementing testable code, as well as fanatical about automated test coverage at all levels of the testing pyramid
  • Ability to contribute to each step of the product development process (ideation, implementation, and release)
  • Experience with performance tuning, profiling and debugging javascript applications
  • Excel with agile development methodologies
  • Work with UX designers and other product managers to realize prototyped solutions of requirements into functional software and facilitate A/B test solutions
  • Leverage DevOps practices for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (must familiar with git, BitBucket, TeamCity)


  • BS in Computer Science or an equivalent technical degree
  • Experience with javascript ES6 and frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular is plus). Modern technology stacks like Java or C# is plus
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design
  • Strong design sense for UX / interaction / visual design
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment; continuous deployment, test-driven development, agile methodologies
  • Experience building consumer-facing products and passion for using technology to improve the lives of our customers
  • Experience working on large-scale applications created over many years and understanding related risks and responsibilities
  • Desire to learn and be excited about the technological features of modern container terminals
  • Desire to be a part of a diverse team of individuals working together
  • Ability to travel occasionally for short periods of time (up to 2 weeks)
