Position Summary

 

As a Program Manager, you will engage with an experienced, global, and cross-functional staff and take responsibility for protecting and enhancing the processes, facilitating product and engineering teams, communicating with the wider business and bringing continuous improvement. You will also serve as a change agent for the company as they mature through this Scaled Agile transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Track identified risks, prepare and manage risk response strategies for these risks with team/tech lead/architects. 

  • Communicate risk details and mitigation plans with all stakeholders and leadership

  • Track and monitor the delivery of commitments for release from assigned teams

  • Act as Scaled Scrum Master for multiple scrum teams with a focus on guiding the teams towards improving the way they work

  • Facilitate and optimize sprint ceremonies and ensure cross-team coordination (locally and globally)

  • Maintain relevant metrics that help the teams and coordinate release efforts.

  • Work with product owners to develop and prioritize the backlog

  • Remove any impediments that would prevent the team from achieving its sprint goals and help achieve shippable product

  • Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame (emphasis on problem-solving).

  • Facilitate getting the work done with team camaraderie rather than coercion, assigning, or dictating.

  • Providing support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible; leading by example

  • Drive new initiatives, process improvements toward consistent delivery of the working product.

  • Use innovative techniques to team retrospectives with focus on team building, ownership, and accountability

  • Coordinate interdependencies between the teams, vendors or customers.

Requirements

 

  • 5+ years of project/program management preferably managing global programs for a software engineering organization

  • 2+ years of experience with agile/SCRUM development methodologies and software development life cycle principles

  • Project Management and Agile certifications desirable (e.g.: PMP, PgMP, SAFe, PMI-ACP, CMMI, PSP/TSP)

  • Experience with and knowledge of Container Terminal operations, or Transportation/Logistics, SaaS Platform, Cloud Deployments a significant plus

  • Hands-on knowledge of Pivotal/Jira/Jira Reporting or any agile management tools

  • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, a plus

  • Experience with Agile techniques such as: Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency

  • Experience in a medium to a large organization that coordinates releases with geographically located teams.

  • Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics. Drive execution excellence through well defined KPIs and create key metrics/dashboards for executive consumption.

  • Understand backlog tracking, burndown, and burnup metrics, velocity, and task definition and experience with tools to draw metrics from data

  • Experience and knowledge on how to lead a team to self-organization

  • Must desire to bring disclosure and transparency to the business about development; growing business trust.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) Computer Science or Business with technical savviness

  • Willingness to travel occasionally
