Position Summary

 

The Project Management role in Technical Services at Navis provides project management to large, complex software implementation projects and technical services within the marine terminal industry. The Technical Services Project Manager will manage scope, schedule, budget, risks and project quality for a variety of technical projects in the industry, and will assist in assigning work, coordinating work assignments, and training of other team members.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manages complex software implementations and technical services to meet budget, schedule and quality goals while maintaining project risks
  • Establishes project scope, requirements and time lines considering resources to deliver to our services to the global customer base 
  • Clearly communicates in oral and in written communication; listens, responds and keeps others informed both internally as well as our externally
  • Works collaboratively within teams and contributes to group outcomes. Treats all individuals fairly and with respect through consistent behaviors
  • Inspires customer confidence through professional presence and self-confidence
  • Comfortable with leading face-to-face meetings and conference calls as well as presenting in a professional manner  
  • Working in a global team across various time zones it is expected that the individual is self managed and responsible to carry out duties independently  
  • Demonstrates knowledge of project management methodology, tools and techniques to ensure that expertise is maximized
  • Providing technical support to other technical service activities as needed
  • Leverage Navis custom development consultants to specify solution designs and reviews custom software development, ensuring that the project team integrates standard products with custom development and verifies proper operation
  • Takes initiative in handling multiple demands by demonstrating flexibility for optimum customer satisfaction
  • Collect and provide feedback to product development teams on software and hardware issues and recommended improvements
  • Strong problem solving skills. Requires a background in technical and troubleshooting skills in several applications and technologies 
  • Due to the global customer base the candidate will be required to work across various time zones as required. This allows for flexible working hours to maintain a well work life balance
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a combination of project management and strong technical experience in hardware infrastructure, software testing and software development
  • Staying abreast with the latest technology trends through learning and self-development, sharing innovative ideas and growing our technical services is all part of the daily job

 

Requirements

 

  • Diploma/Degree in Business, Logistics, Marine Operations, Computer Science, Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of applicable experience, at least 2 within a professional services organization or maritime industry
  • PMP or Prince 2 certification is preferable 
  • Experience in complex implementation or system integration projects 
  • Experience in delivering services is a plus 
  • Previous experience working for a software company, consulting firm or system integrator
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 25%
