Position Summary

 

Navis is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our talented team. In this position you will have an opportunity to make major contributions to our cloud services for vessel stowage, loading computer and vessel performance. You will work together with colleagues to define system requirements and build state-of-the-art software and cloud infrastructure. You must be a quick learner, have excellent communication skills, and be able to maintain ownership of large engineering projects through their lifecycle: architecture/design, implementation, testing, monitoring and maintenance. This position has unique opportunities for growth in both the functional and technical direction.


 

Responsibilities

 

  • Work within a team of like-minded professionals to plan, build, deploy, and maintain critical business applications in a cloud environment.
  • Design and implement appropriate environments for applications, engineer suitable release management procedures and provide production support.
  • Influence other teams and broader engineering groups in adopting cloud technologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Automate the provisioning of environments: cooking up some recipes with Terraform or CloudFormation, and deploying environments using Docker or Service Fabric.
  • Design and develop automation workflows, perform unit tests and conduct review to make sure your work is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for platform performance, and assess the overall quality of delivered components.
  • Frequent tools/technologies used in this role would be: AWS, Azure DevOps, Service Fabric, Docker, Powershell, Terraform.
  • Participate in the Agile DevOps design, development, testing, and release of new capabilities and features with focus on frequent production releases.
  • Drive improvements to processes and design enhancements to automation to continuously improve the production environment.   


 

Requirements

 

  • BSC/MSC/Diploma in Computer Science / Software Engineering with 1+ years of experience.
  • 1+ years of AWS DevOps experience (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Route53, DynamoDB, SQS, VPC, CloudFront, IAM, Lambda).
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows and Linux servers, SSO, OAuth, SAML for authentication.
  • Resource monitoring and repository audit reporting, backup and restore.
  • Expertise in AWS best practices.
  • Experience in DevOps tools like PagerDuty, Loggly, Site24x7, etc.
  • Experience with multiple cloud implementations (AWS, Azure, Google) is a plus.
  • Experience with build and releases pipelines in Azure DevOps is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel
  • German and English language skills in spoken and written
