Service Engineer

We are looking for experienced Service Engineers to perform and supervise service activities, including refurbishments, upgrades, preventative maintenance and corrective actions on MacGregor and equivalent equipment. Maintaining productive team and customer relationships as well as ensuring Best Practices are applied in all service related activities.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Maintain equipment with hyrdualic and electrical systems: follow technical drawing, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. Class requirements.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on shipboard equipment (e.g. Cranes, Stern Ramps, Hatch covers, winches)
- Perform repairs on more advance equipment as needed.
- Perform breakdown analysis
- Upgrade product lines with new/upgraded equipment/technology
- Direct activities of outside contractors
- Safety, and audit standards
- Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
- Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed
What you’ll need to succeed:
Education
- Commercial or Technical background preferred. Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED
- Preference will be given to Veteran’s and those with advance technical degree and/or training
Experience
- At least one (1) year of experience in mechanical or electrical troubleshooting, and equipment repairs.
- Experience with mechanical systems (e.g. gear boxes, chains, sprockets, motors, seals, bearings).
- Experience with conveyers (sensors, motor/speed controls).
- Experience with electronics (e.g. flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc).
- Experience with pumps (e.g., troubleshooting, replacing seals/motors, and understanding specs).
- Experience in rigging large equipment
- Able to read/understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Experience in maritime, commercial and/or large electronic equipment a plus
Competencies
- Strong aptitude toward PLC/Control system logic
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, dependability and initiative
- Good communication skills; must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language
- Good problem solving skills
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff
- Ability to multi-task while completing work in a competent and professional manner
- Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends or on call duty
- Demonstrated initiative to visualize, organize, manage, and complete projects as an individual or in a group setting.
Other information
- Candidates must have a Valid Driver’s license, and be able to maintain a valid Passport and TWIC card
- Role will require up to 85% travel based on customer needs and commissioning schedule.
