The purpose of this role is to ensure overall alignment with MacGregor strategic and financial interests from a statutory and tax perspective. You will act as Finance Partner for local management and business controllers with overall country statutory and tax financial management responsibility. 


As the Country Finance Manager for the US & UK, you will be responsible for timely statutory, tax and legal reporting of companies and other tax and statutory administrative matters including organizing and monitoring necessary work performed by other internal/external parties. In this role you will be the first point of contact in tax, statutory, audit and financial risk management related matters companies - both internally (local management, corporate functions, Financial Shared Service Center (FSSC) and externally (authorities, auditors, actuaries, banks, insurers).


Reporting directly to the Regional Controller Americas and North Sea, Finance located in the UK. The position will be based in MacGregor’s office in Hampton, Virginia but covers the Americas and UK companies.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Responsible for financing, cash management, financial risk and tax planning of companies in cooperation with corporate functions
  • Ensuring implementation of and compliance with governance and internal control framework in US/UK companies
  • Supporting, coordinating and ensuring timely completion of audit of UK/US US/UK MacGregor companies for group purposes
  • Advising and supporting local management in projects and questions (e.g. M&A, facilities, pension funds, etc.) with respect finance, tax, statutory and financial risk management activities
  • Actively driving process improvements and cost efficiencies related to above activities (with external parties and insourcing activities)
  • Controlling and allocating the costs related to above activities to the different business units
  • Responsible for securing own and co-workers’ safety and health with all possible means

What you’ll need to succeed

Excellent knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and IFRS standards plus company compliance requirements are essential in this position. We are looking for a person who has hands-on attitude, good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability and interest to work and execute within an international environment. The suitable person has an analytical mindset and wants to develop processes and ways of working.


Ideally you have: 

 

  • University degree in accounting/finance/economics, preferable Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the US
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant finance role with tacit knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS/UK GAAP plus local statutory & tax compliance requirements
  • Specific reporting knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes (incl some basic actuarial awareness)
  • Organization and coordination skills accompanied with excellent prioritization skills also to accommodate time-zone differences, not only between US and UK, but also within US (East/West-Coast)
  • Good communication skills and willingness to communicate and coordinate with different stakeholders, requiring fluent spoken and written English
  • Good knowledge of financial and reporting systems, preferable SAP, HFM, Vertex
  • An ongoing interest in gaining a sound understanding of the MacGregor business
