MacGregor is seeking an experienced Operational Director from the maritime industry to lead and develop high-performing operations teams across the Middle East and Asia. In this critical role, you will play a key part in enhancing customer satisfaction, driving operational efficiency, and shaping the future of global service delivery.


As Operational Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities and business in the region with and continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams. A strong focus will be placed on local communication, personnel development & training and safety management, with the aim of providing high levels of product support for our customers and a positive local team climate. 


The position is part of the global operations team and significant co-operation with all other regions is needed for shared learning and initiatives and to ensure a true global support network is provided to our customers. 


Through the local service and sales support management structure you will oversee that all inspections, repairs, contracted maintenance and sales support activities are resourced and managed effectively as well as provide operational support for all matrix reports in the Middle East and Asia.


This role will have full responsibility for local cost management and close co-operation with local Finance and HR Business partners is paramount. In addition you will collaborate closely with the GSD Management, Global Operations Team, Global Spare Parts, Sales, Project teams and our customers. The role is part of the Global Service Division (GSD) regional management team and reports directly to the Vice President, Middle East and Asia. The position is located in our office in Singapore. 

Other responsibilities

  • Work closely with the sales organization to grow the maintenance business in the region
  • To grow, execute and manage the service/maintenance agreement
  • To improve the efficiency of the service execution process with the adoption of digital transformation
  • Proactively champion and communicate MacGregor and GSD strategy and road map initiatives to local teams
  • Oversee and manage all regional operations activities in accordance with Operating Principles Manual 
  • Continuously monitor and develop regional efficiency, productivity, personnel performance and fixed costs
  • Drive business opportunities within scope of strategy
  • Long-term strategic planning of the regional operations
  • Work in proactive partnership with other teams in the GSD structure to maximise company growth and profitability
  • Develop and maintain high standards of team climate, developing participation and initiative in all employees
  • Develop and maintain a strong culture based on safety and integrity
  • Additional duties might be assigned by the company

Experience that would help you succeed in your duties:

 

  • University (degree) or equivalent operational experience
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience is preferred
  • Proven track record in service business in an international marine environment
  • Strategic vision and strong analytical capability
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to get things done independently
  • Willingness to undertake extensive travel overseas
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English as to have effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders who are Mandarin-speaking
