The purpose of this role is to supervise and perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, maintenance work of advanced mechanical equipment on the MacGregor product range, plus 3rd party makers if needed.
We are looking for a candidate with previous experience within the offshore, ship, or rig equipment sector, products such as steering gear and deck machinery, but not limited to. Your main discipline is mechanical, in addition you have basic knowledge of hydraulic, electrical or/and automation components. As a person you are customer-oriented, cooperative, and have excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work independently.
This is a position that requires that you travel to client sites, vessels or at shipyards worldwide to support Service overall goals and budgets.To ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards. Our clients are primarily domestic but also spread across the globe, i.e. Europe, the US, Australia, Singapore, and beyond. Therefore, flexibility and a strong willingness to travel is essential.
This role is part of our Global Services Division (after market). Reporting directly to the Operations Manager. This position is based in Shanghai, China.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Supervise and perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, maintenance
- Advanced repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment
- Provide reports, establish relationships with internal/external customers, and ensure customer feedback reaches the relevant teams
- Cooperate with the local MacGregor service network
- Comply with safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Identify sales opportunities and support follow-up on leads and quotes with the sales team
- Coach junior colleagues, manage subcontractors, and be aware of departmental profitability
- Make commercial decisions within agreed project limits, in coordination with the Operations Manager

What you’ll need to succeed
- Technical education or college level or similar relevant experience
- Relevant experience may compensate for lack of education
- Minimum 5 years of experience from similar position
- Experience from offshore, ship or rig related equipment is beneficial
- Experience in steering gear and deck machinery is preferred
- English language - both verbal and written
