Mechanical Designer

Purpose of the position
The purpose of this position is to design equipment according to technical requirements as defined by contract, class rules and MacGregor standard within given quality, time and cost.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contract Management
● Design equipment according to technical requirements as defined by contract, class rules and MacGregor standard within given quality, time and cost.
● Responsibility for design planning and updating Design Responsible or Design Leader.
● Follow up of design schedule.
● Assist DR/CM/Purchase responsible in technical discussions with customers and subcontractors.
Design
● Layout design
● Adapt concept to contract requirements
● Interface to ship or shore structure
● Kinematics of equipment through operation
● Perform calculations as agreed with the Structural Analyst and the DR, or DL
● Collate and archive calculations
● Calculation of hydraulic cylinder operating pressure and buckling check.
● Operation sequence of allocated equipment
● Weight calculations and technical solutions
● Detail design and production of design drawings.
● Technical correctness of the design and drawings.
● Planning and follow-up of the allocated item
● Design hours estimation / forecasting of allocated work
● Production of technical administrative documentation
Contract Activity
● Support DR and DL with all deviations from contract with technical or commercial impact.
● Attending design review meetings
Other Departments
● Support to Purchase Function in technical matters.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Education:
● B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
● CET-6 English as well as good spoken English
Experience:
● 3-5 year of hands-on experience with mechanical engineering, ideally within Marine industry
Competencies:
● Mechanical Engineering
● Technical 2D drafting (prefer AutoCAD Mechanical)
● GD&T
● 3D CAD
● Basic stress analysis
● Marine steel grades
● Rules and regulations
● Steel structures fabrication knowledge
● Installation methods and practices
● Teamwork
