Maintenance Technician

MacGregor is seeking a Mechanical Technician to perform repair and maintenance work for MacGregor's product range, plus foreign maker cargo access and other related equipment onboard fishing vessels and in the shop. Electrical and mechanical experience in marine hydraulic lifts, controls and related equipment preferred. The job provides extensive training on MacGregor specific products. Heavy industrial mechanical maintenance experience is required.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Providing timely diagnosis/repair of MacGregor product lines located on customer maritime vessels in docks
  • Complete regular preventative maintenance as scheduled
  • Demonstrate ability to independently diagnose and repair sometimes complex problems on a variety of products in a timely manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to install and test equipment on vessels in compliance with factory specifications and standards
  • Ability to use hand, air, and electric hand tools; operate forklifts, small cranes and mechanical hoists as needed
  •  Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction by providing technical support in a professional and timely manner
  • Communicate with customers regarding the diagnosis and repair problems experienced in the field
  • Comply with Company Core Values and comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe working practices

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent required

 

Working experience:

  • Ideal candidate will have previous repair/diagnostic experience working on marine/heavy equipment hydraulics

 

Skills and competencies:

  • Possess good mechanical skills and a strong work ethic
  • The ability to work Lathes/mills and other machines is a plus and we are willing to pay accordingly
  • Must be willing to work long hours during the seasons
