Senior Service Engineer

Purpose of the position

Provide services and after-sales technical service to customers, service partners and/or third party contractors on existing and/or newly acquired equipment and components.

Main tasks and responsibilities

● Industry knowledge: Stay up to date with major customers active in business.

● Engineering knowledge: Stay up to date with technical developments (where appropriate related to new types of hydraulics, electrics, electronics,) applicable to equipment; Stay up to date with internal service bulletins and other technical information; Stay up to date with technical specifications of MacGregor range

● Project management: Understand Customer / MacGregor / Branch / Service Manager's requirements and expectations,including costs and budgets; Co-ordinate sub-contracted assignments and report any non-compliance; Make decisions about required action up to agreed authority levels and then communicate with Service Manager; Clarify response and completion time required according to the circumstances; Understand scope of reporting required: Review and edit personal daily activity, reports, Inspect daily activity reports of subcontracted team members, Review onboard ships spare parts inventory (if applicable)

● Team management: Delegate work assignments to subcontracted teams; Communicate and monitor all environment, safety and quality requirements (person and site related); Keep regular work meetings with subcontracted teams and superiors; Monitor performance and provide support; Report and take corrective actions in case of any unacceptable non-compliance

● Risk management: Protect himself and others; Carry responsibility to ensure that all site safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements are complied with, both according to customer's in-house regulations and to general standards (e.g. ISPS, ISO, DIN); Communicate information to Service Manager and Technical Support Dept. if equipment safety is jeopardised due to any reason; Respect and protect Cargotec and third party's properties (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities

● Service/ Inspection Process: Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan and then conduct service or repair as necessary; Submit high-standard regular reports as specified by Service Manager and MOC Coordinator; Reviews inspection and service reports of technicians and engineers in terms of clarity and technical and linguistical terms; Ensure adequate records and documentation are maintained in line with agreed standards

● New business opportunities: Recognize a sales opportunity and communicate to service manager in local Branch.

● Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to Service Manager and Technical Support Dept. to support continuous quality improvement; Participate in innovative thinking about ways to improve service efficiency

What you’ll need to succeed

Education: 

● Qualifications from University or college equal to BSc in technical engineering with a degree in electrics or electronics engineering. Alternatively comparable or equal degrees or equivalent due to experience.

Experience

● Senior Service Engineer has been a MacGregor Service Engineer for a minimum of five years.

● Documented ability to manage a big repair work in which at least 5 foreign workers are involved. Organise transports, tools, material, spare parts as well as food and accommodation

Competencies

● Fluent in English, spoken and written

● Medical first-aid certificate

● Driving license
