Director, Data driven insights & analytics

Purpose of the position

 

This position aims to inspire and identify the needs in MacGregor to take advantage of data to support efficient business processes and to provide insights that enable improved business outcomes. The objective is to strengthen our capabilities in regards to data analytics, improve our data governance and drive for a higher degree of process automation. The function will work closely with our Divisions, Functions, CBS and Group IM. The position will report to the SVP Finance.
 

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Develop and lead execution of the MacGregor data and analytics strategy
  • Define long-term vision, identify needs and opportunities that create significant business value by use of data and data analytics, and prioritize development initiatives.  
  • Monitor external development trends within the scope of the function
  • Data Management including Data modeling & Data ingestions in collaboration with group IM and external partners
  • Data governance for self-service reporting - build, maintain & develop the common principles and infrastructure to establish a common data catalog, e.g., a data mesh concept for Self-service reporting
  • Maintain centrally provided BI reports with support from CBS and external resources for development of Qlik and Looker Studio reports.
  • Provide support and training to self-service users
  • Support networking, learning and practice sharing across the various teams and sites
  • Gradually establishing advanced analytics capabilities and enabling higher degree of process automation
  • Development and management of external partners
  • When applicable, participate and/or lead development projects
  • Stakeholder management, the position will work in close collaboration with all our divisions, functions, CBS Data & Analytics team, Group IM
  • Develop and maintain a high focus on safety, compliance and sustainability.
     

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education

 

  • Master’s degree in business / industrial management, mathematics, information technology or similar


Experience

 

  • At least 8 years of experience in senior finance or data analytics role
  • Mature and seasoned professional with a proven track record in business intelligence and/or data analytics
  • Leading and developing employees, and empowering your team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strategic vision and strong analytical capability
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to get things done independently
  • Command respect and credibility, stemming from both experience and personality
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python (incl. data analysis packages such as Pandas)
  • Comfortable with Google Apps Script (JavaScript/TypeScript) and the Google Workspace suite of productivity tools, especially Google Sheets, Slides and Looker Studio
  • Familiar with Google Cloud Platform, especially Google BigQuery
  • Solid understanding of software and data engineering projects 
  • Ability to identify and evaluate potential business use cases for  machine learning and AI  
  • Willingness to undertake occasional travel overseas
  • Fluency in English.
