We are looking for a Senior Engineer Control System to join MacGregor's Offshore Solutions Division. The position is responsible for analysis, design and programing of third generation advanced control systems for offshore and marine equipment. The role also participates in the startups and create IAT, FAT, HAT and SAT procedures that apply to applicable class requirements for marine equipment (DNV, ABS, Lloyds).
This position reports to Stian Krogstad, Discipline Lead Control Systems. The location of this position can be Kristiansand or Bergen, Norway.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and test new advanced control systems for the Marine and Offshore environment
  • Be a part of developing autonomous control systems for the Offshore Wind industry
  • Software and control system FMEA of Hydraulic - mechanical, electric - mechanical multi axis control systems
  • High-level control system architecture principles and interactions
  • Be able to discuss and provide input to technical solutions along with the Product Manager
  • Develop new concepts and solutions
  • When required, contribute with technical input within an area of speciality during the bidding process
  • Give advice and guidance to other engineers
  • Be a mentor for your area of speciality
  • Be able to communicate technical deliveries both internally and externally (including establish and give technical presentations)
  • Participate in standardization and product development within the discipline.

What you’ll need to succeed:

 

Education: 

  • M. Sc./B.Sc. In Systems and control engineering
  • Lack of education can be compensated with relevant experience


Experience

  • 5-10 years relevant experience. Lack of experience can be compensated with relevant competencies

  • Good communication skills
  • Good control system understanding
  • Good technical English skills (spoken and written)
  • Good programming skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good practical skills
  • Experience in advanced control, optimal control and state estimation
  • Experience in non-linear systems modelling and control
  • Experience in hydraulic systems modelling and control
  • Experience in VFD drive control 
  • Experience in AHC and sea wave compensation
  • Willingness to continuous improvement
  • Inter discipline understanding (Design impact to other disciplines)
  • Be proficient in the used system tools
  • Understanding the necessity of “keeping it simple”.
