MacGregor is looking for a Service Engineer to join Global Services Division team of professionals. 

 

The position is based in Genoa, Italy.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

 

  • Carry out complex field service activities in hydraulic, electrical, and automation related to Crane MacGregor
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on-site on hydraulic, and electrical to isolate and find root causes of failures in electrical and automation equipment
  • Lead and manage assigned self/team while on-site, interacting with the customer and/or the shipyard to arrange for the proper schedule to achieve the desired scope. Be able to ensure prompt feedback to work Coordination and Resources departments
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to MacGregor Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures
  • Inspect completed work to ensure that repairs have been finalized correctly and that machinery and equipment are compliant with specifications and safety standards
  • Proactively advise and promote available products and solutions to customers. Perform site audits, supporting our sales departments too
  • Keep track of work details and provide deep reports, including all the necessary details (measurements, photos, way of working, investigations, etc.). Perform internal and external progress reporting on the status of assigned work. Keep track and provide the accounting of time, together with the spare parts to be used
  • Prepare technical and travel reports on time, with the collections of the expected documentation according to MacGregor quality. To be written in English
  • Ready to travel on short notice. Away from home more than 70% of the working time.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

 

  • Technical high school diploma in hydraulics, electrics, electronics, and automation
  • BS degree in marine engineering, electrical, electronic
  • Previous experiences in similar roles or sailing while working in vessel’s engine rooms
  • Hydraulic, electrical and automation technical knowledge, sensors, hydraulic and electrical actuators, and auxiliary equipment
  • PLC knowledge
  • Computer skills, Google Suite
  • Good read and written English
  • Ability to travel, to work abroad and on board of vessels
  • Ready to travel around 70% of the time
  • Good communication skills
  • Motivated to learn in classroom/field trainings and quickly grow professionally
  • Ability to work in a team, follow directives and deal with people of different nationalities and cultures.
