Director, Service Training

Description of the role


As the current position holder is moving on to new challenges, we now have an opening for a Director, Service Training in the MacGregor Global Lifecycle Support division, Product Support organisation.

GLS Product Support is organised in four departments – Technical support, MMD/documentation, Service Projects, and Training. This position will lead and develop the Training department.

The role will be responsible for creating and implementing a targeted training and competency strategy to build MacGregor GLS training and development organization based on product division, region and services strategies. This will include expanding training personnel and locations to grow the reach and impact of the department. Training department is be accountable for maintaining the credibility and integrity of the training programs globally. This will include the validation of the training content, training methods and course development criteria. You will also establish and develop any needed tools and processes, such as Learning Management System, to manage service technician competencies in GLS.

The role will manage a group of technical trainers at the various locations and coordinate all training activities for the service branches, technical support in GLS and the product line divisions to ensure future growth and operational excellence in the service organisation and in the field. The department will also have a responsibility for customer trainings via the product line trainers or branches.


The role will be based in our office in Gdansk, Poland - other GLS locations may be considered.

What we expect from you


To succeed in the role you should have a university degree (MSc / BSc) or equivalent, and be a senior executive with experience in managing multi-product lines in multi-locations in a B2B environment. You shoud also have minimum ten years in marine industry or in technical competence development with increasing responsibilities; and minimum five years of management experience.

  • Ability to plan and facilitate and/or conduct complex negotiations reaching lasting agreements and commitments with all key stakeholders
  • Commands respect and credibility, stemming from both experience and personality
  • Willingness to some travel abroad (the department will have personnel in multiple locations)
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
