Compensation Data

Salary starts from $65,000 per year based on skills and experience.

Purpose of the position

We are looking for an experienced Service Technician to perform maintenance, repairs and service activities, including refurbishments, upgrades, preventative maintenance and corrective actions on MacGregor and equivalent equipment, while maintaining productive team and customer relationships, as well as ensuring Best Practices are applied in all service related activities.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Work with lead mechanics onboard of fishing vessels and in the shop. Remove heavy equipment and rebuild
• Maintain equipment with hydraulic and electrical systems; follow technical drawing, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications, Class requirements
• Perform maintenance and repairs on shipboard equipment (e.g. Cranes, Stern Ramps, Hatch covers, winches)
• Perform repairs on more advanced equipment as needed
• Perform breakdown analysis
• Safety, and audit standards
• Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)
• Documentation of work schedule and work tasks completed

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:

• Commercial or Technical background preferred.
• Minimum requirement high school diploma or GED
• Preference will be given to Veteran’s and those with advance technical degree and/or training

Working experience:

• At least one (1) year of experience in mechanical or electrical troubleshooting, and equipment repairs
• Experience with mechanical systems
• Еxperience with conveyers
• Experience with electronics
• Experience with pumps
• Experience in rigging large equipment
• Able to read/understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Experience in maritime, commercial and/or large electronic equipment a plus

Other information:

• Candidates must have a Valid Driver’s license, and be able to maintain a valid Passport and TWIC card
