We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Kalmar Automation & Software Solutions team.

Our container terminal automation includes massive robots, deployed to the heart of the largest cities in the world enabling the global logistic chain to operate more efficiently, safely and with a smaller environmental footprint.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will be a member of an agile software team, responsible for backend of data-driven solutions. Your core tasks relate to designing and developing our data collection and analysis services. Java, Scala and Spark act at the core of what you do. Scrum acts as the key development method and Jira as the canvas for it. Utilising modern GIT practices provides you to efficiently manage the versioning of our product. In this role you will work closely with team lead, delivery owner and other teams in the tribe. The position is located in Tampere, Finland and is reporting in line organisation to the development manager, leading the tribe.


Main tasks and responsibilities:



  • Design / Implementation and defect fixing of our product, KalmarOne components
  • Ensure the SW product quality / test planning / testing
  • Follow the agreed processes and practices, new development, defect fixing, Code review, releasing etc.
  • Be active to improve processes and ways of working
  • Take ownership of the SW components in the team responsibility
  • Play senior role and use experience to support others in team work
  • Documenting and reporting regularly the on-going work progress

What you’ll need to succeed



  • MSc or BSc, Automation Information Technology or Computer Science
  • 3+  years of experience of software development projects
  • Experience in Data driven technologies, Data analytics and services is an advantage
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong experience in software development methods, tools and processes
  • Fluency in English - both written and spoken
