Kalmar Strategy, Sustainability & Technology Division is looking for а Robotics Engineer, Control who will develop control methodologies, algorithms and their implementation in the machine control system to enable robotic payload manipulation and autonomous mobile machinesolutions in the domain of container handling and related other industrial applications.

 

The model-based design, rapid prototyping and automatic code generation tools for control system development are at the core of the role. Your work will target user-assisting, semi-autonomous and autonomous product features for heavy-duty multiple-degree of freedom systems. We value all knowhow on machinery and functional safety of electronic control systems. As a Robotics Engineer, Control you will design and engineer control methods and algorithms for robotic mobile machines in collaboration with internal stakeholders and selected partners.

 

The position is located in Tampere or Helsinki, Finland or Ljungby, Sweden.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and engineering of control methods and algorithms for autonomous mobile manipulation  in mobile machinery. This is done as part of a multidisciplinary team and internal/external collaboration teams
  • Monitoring, analysing, testing and validating state-of-the-art control technologies and components in the market for specific applications
  • Collaboration in development environment and tools creation and selection
  • Participation and support in development projects.

 

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Master of Science or Doctor of Science in Technology in a relevant field, such as automation, control,robotics, mechatronics, automotive engineering
  • Robotics application development experience on heavy duty equipment is considered as a plus
  • Experience in design and implementation of control systems including external sensory feedback,which are subject to variable-delay, uncertainty, and noise
  • Familiarity with model-based control design tools, such as Matlab/Simulink
  • Understanding vehicle motion control and trajectory generation is a plus (e.g. for the Ackermann steering geometry)
  • Experience in working on HiL simulator is a plus
  • Analytical and problem solving as well as collaborative mindset
  • Good verbal and written English.
