R&D Engineer / Senior R&D Engineer

Kalmar’s Automation and Projects division is searching a R&D Engineer / Senior R&D Engineer, mechanical to strengthen and join to our cranes mechanical engineering team. You are able to work as nominated engineer in defined NPD (New Product Development) project(s) having technical responsibility of own discipline area. You are able to coordinate actions needed to develop validated crane design that meets requirements defined in the project and ensure competitiveness of the product. You will be located in Tampere, Finland. Reporting directly to the R&D Manager mechanical engineering.


Main tasks and resposibilities:
 
●    Work according Kalmar NPD process  
●    Delivering design documentation
●    Defining new structures and mechanisms included in the project(s)
●    Component selection, calculation and standardization
●    Participating to engineering reviews
●    Executing and controlling the crane mechanical development and testing
●    Production and site support in NPD phase
●    Working in global engineering organization
●    Participating to sales supporting, sourcing supporting and project engineering activities.

What you’ll need to succeed:


We are looking for a person who is open and have a positive outlook on designing, who can co-operate successfully with different stakeholders. If you are a result-driven individual, able to be part of a team that continues to deliver customer-centric solutions for Kalmar's business partners, you will fit right in.
We expect from you:

●    Technical education (B.Sc or M.Sc) in Mechanical or Structural Engineering
●    Minimum of two (2) years of experience in new product development project(s) and/or crane applications
●    Good knowledge in design of heavy welding structures and/or hoisting appliances
●    Knowledge of crane design criteria, i.e. machinery directives and crane standards
●    Very good knowledge of engineering systems, especially Catia V5 or similar system
●    Good team working skills, organized way of working
●    Good written and oral communication skills in English
●    Willingness for business travelling.
