Project Purchasing Engineer

Kalmar is seeking a Project Purchasing Engineer.



In this role you will be responsible for the Operational Purchasing and Sourcing work for electrical and power line components for Horizontal Transportation division projects. You will also purchase  items for Straddle Carriers and R&D purposes, manufactured  at Tampere and items needed at our site operations. The main purpose is to purchase, forecast and coordinate project components and deliveries, but also to manage and develop relationships with suppliers to improve operations and reduce costs.


The location of this position is Tampere and you will report to the Senior Manager, Project Procurement.


Main tasks and responsibilities


  • Purchasing and pricing Kalmar Horizontal Transportation division project components
  • Coordinating international and domestic direct and indirect deliveries
  • Sourcing new components and updating ERP system data
  • Managing suppliers performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery
  • Obtain schedule and delivery confirmations from suppliers with a proactive working attitude.


What you’ll need to succeed



  • B.Sc. in Mechanical or experience as a buyer.



  • At least 4 years of relevant business and product experience.



  • Knowledge of industrial electrical and/or mechanical components
  • Experience with purchasing processes
  • SAP or other ERP system procurement experiences
  • Good Excel and IT skills
  • Communication skills in both Finnish and English.
