Product Safety Engineer

We are looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join our Product Safety team in the Horizontal Division. The team works in close cooperation with automation and equipment sales, product management, r&d, engineering, customer projects and product support, and provides them product safety expert services. As a safety engineer you will plan and coordinate actions which aim to ensure that project’s delivery is in conformance with agreed safety requirements. 

 

You will report to the Product Safety Manager and will be part of a team of four. The location of the position is Tampere. Hybrid model working (remote and office working) after the induction period is possible.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Follow safety process in the defined delivery and R&D projects related to container handling machinery and their automation
  • Coordinate, perform and document requirements identification, risk assessment and risk reduction in international projects and in cooperation with project team, 3rd parties and customers 
  • Support project team in identification and application of valid risk reduction measures
  • Coordinate and document work related to identification, specification, verification and validation of safety functions 
  • Continuous development of safety process, procedures and documentation in cooperation with product lines and safety team
  • Follow up relevant safety standardization and regulations and share information about the upcoming changes
  • Coordinate safety related work with subcontractors
  • Other separately defined project and safety expert service duties.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

  • Degree in engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.). Preferred education of the candidate is Automation, Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering. 
  • Experience in the machinery and automation industries, specifically in safety of machinery and/or functional safety. 
  • Knowledge and experience of applying machinery safety legislation and standards in the Europe. Experience of US and Australian regulations and standards is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in global multi-cultural environment.
  • Experience in machinery risk assessment and its facilitation.
  • Fluency in English.
