Kalmar’s Automation and Project Delivery Division is shaping world of logistics. This fascinating and extreme global industry is utilizing digital tools like never before, which has a radical impact on our customer’s way of operation and the way they run their business. Kalmar has the best performing yard crane portfolio, where amazing machines, automation and integration are moving thousands of containers every day, worldwide. Intelligent cranes provide assistance for manual operators or can work completely autonomously in dedicated areas. These solutions trust Kalmar’s in-house automation, modern measurement systems and latest networking technology which all are sold and delivered by our Kalmar experts.

Now our Product Management team is looking for a Product Engineer to join our team in Tampere. In this role, you will change the way that both Kalmar and our customers do business and help reshaping our industry. You will focus on mechanical and electrical aspects of our container crane offering which spans from reliable manual cranes to most advanced automated cranes on the market. Your technical knowledge is needed in translating customer needs into product features and optimal solutions for the customers. Your open and positive attitude will enable good collaboration with many stakeholders involved.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Defining and documenting our crane offering and supporting sales activities
  • Identifying product improvements and taking part in development projects
  • Collaborating with a highly skilled group of architects, designers and product managers to deliver innovative solutions.

What you’ll need to succeed:

The excellent candidate would be a team player, eager to experience new and exciting opportunities.

Ideally you have:

  • M.Sc / B. Sc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or in other applicable field
  • 2+ years of work experience in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Practical experience on working with electromechanical machines
  • Technical skills in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies
  • Competence to understand complex mechatronic systems
  • Capability to find creative solutions and think outside of the box
  • Product and architecture-oriented mindset
  • Good communication skills in English (mastering other relevant languages like Chinese is seen as advantage).
