Automation Support Engineer

Now our Customer Services team is looking for a Automation Support Engineer to join our team in Tampere Technology and Competence Centre. In this role, you will be working directly with our global customers, product management and engineering supporting our latest technology deployed at the world’s most advanced deep-sea ports and intermodal terminals. You will be in a key role in shaping the industry towards sustainable, safe and autonomous future. You will focus on working with the Kalmar software platform but understanding the electrical and mechanical aspects of the solution are an asset in the world of container robotics.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • To assist customers in using and getting maximum benefit from their Automation technology by responding and resolving issues raised by the customers
  • Channelling and fine tuning the customer feedback and improvement requirements back to the product management in order to develop the overall software platform product
  • To respond (by phone, email, etc) to requests reported by customers, gather necessary evidence of the symptoms, provide a workarounds where possible, perform root cause analysis to determine the resolution strategy, and initiate a root cause fix by other groups (such as software engineering and product management) as necessary
  • Participate in a roster of similar persons to provide after hours response capability for customers
  • To participate in, and contribute to, the implementation of Automation technology at customer sites by undertaking tasks from Automation delivery projects.

What you’ll need to succeed:

The excellent candidate would be a team player, eager to experience new and exciting opportunities.

Ideally you have:

  • M.Sc / B. Sc degree in software engineering
  • 2+ years of work experience in software engineering and testing
  • Competence and experience from complex mechatronic systems, software and interfaces
  • Technical skills in PLC, server and network architectures
  • Excellent troubleshooting and networking skills
  • Proactive and enthusiastic way of working
  • Desire and ability to learn and drive to get things done
  • Good communication skills in English.
