Automation Hardware Electrical Specialist

Kalmar's Software and Automation Development Division is looking for an Automation Hardware Electrical Specialist to work within the Automation HW and Infra Systems department. In this role you will be providing services in defined engineering discipline to support engineering design, evaluation and implementation of automation systems and lifetime maintenance of the systems.
This position is based in Cargotec’s office in Tampere. 
You will report to Engineering Manger, Automation Hardware and Infra Systems.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Create electrical design for automation systems.
  • Coordinate and review sub-contractor electrical design
  • Support decision-making, purchasing and implementation of automation systems.
  • Maintain engineering design and BoM within Kalmar's PDM systems 
  • Plan, make and coordinate technical documentation, procedures and provide training and support for other APD personnel relating to automation systems.
  • Development of automation system design and tools for existing and developed automation products.  Focusing on electrical engineering.
  • Development of engineering processes for Automation HW and Infra Systems
  • Maintain, test and diagnose functionality of automation systems and provide support and troubleshooting of faults within systems.

What you’ll need to succeed

We are looking for a proactive person with hands-on approach who has good problem solving skills. Good command in English - both written and verbal is required.

Ideally you have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar
  • Experience in electrical engineering and crane automation applications
  • Good understanding of electrical engineering
  • Good understanding of automation technologies
  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering
  • Basic understanding of hardware platforms and software applications
  • Basic understanding of crane applications
  • Experience working in cross functional and multi-cultural environment
  • Interested in developing systems, processes and ways of working
  • Experience in using and maintaining items within PDM systems.
