Senior Manager, Demand Planning

Purpose of the position

Senior Manager, Demand Planning is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the demand forecasting and planning processes within the organization. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the Kalmar Services supply chain is aligned with market demand, leading to efficient inventory management, cost control, and superior customer availability. The Senior Manager, Demand Planning will provide strategic direction, establish best practices, and drive continuous improvement in the demand planning function.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Demand Forecasting: Develop, refine, and execute demand forecasting processes to accurately predict customer demand, taking into consideration historical data, e-commerce data, installed base data, customer and local entities forecasts.
• Inventory Management: Manage and optimize inventory levels to ensure on-time product availability while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs. 
• Sales & Operations Planning Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the S&OP process, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of demand manager & planners, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Sales, Markets, Finance, Product Management and Supply Chain teams to gather input and share insights, align on forecasts, and foster a culture of collaboration and communication.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that may impact demand planning and supply chain operations.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive a culture of continuous improvement within the function and across the supply chain
• Demand Review Meetings: Lead regular demand review meetings with stakeholders to discuss forecast accuracy, demand changes, and potential supply chain disruptions.
• Market Intelligence: Stay informed about industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market conditions to adjust forecasting and planning strategies accordingly.
• Risk Management: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions, ensure supply chain resilience and minimize their impact on customer service.
• Cost Management: Work to minimize supply chain costs while maintaining the highest standards of service and quality.
• Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports and KPIs related to demand planning and inventory management to senior management.
   

What you’ll need to succeed

Education

• Master's / Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management and or Technology  

Experience

• Proven experience in demand planning, forecasting and inventory management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

Competencies

• Strong understanding of demand forecasting, inventory management, and supply chain principles.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in demand planning and S&OP software and data analytics tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management and mentoring.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Results-oriented with a track record of driving process improvements and cost savings.
• Knowledge of automotive or machinery spare parts and supply chain best practices.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google and or equivivalent software.
