Electrical design engineer

Purpose of the position

We are looking for a talented and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Kalmar Horizontal Engineering. Kalmar is a world leader in providing innovative, sustainable and efficient cargo handling solutions. Our horizontal engineering team is responsible for the design and development of automated and manual straddle carriers, charging solutions and automation infrastructure for these machines.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design of electrical systems in delivery projects for our straddle carriers and charging solutions. You will provide production support in designing related matters and work closely with other design engineers on the team to implement new design solutions. You will also be responsible for ensuring that our products meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Electrical design for horizontal products in customer delivery projects
• Work closely with other engineers on the team to develop and implement new design solutions
• Ensure that products meet all relevant safety and regulatory requirements
• Participate in the design review process
• Work with suppliers to ensure the quality of manufactured components
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing and assembly teams plus for other relevant stakeholders
• Keep up to date with the latest technologies and trends in mechanical engineering
   

What you’ll need to succeed

• Electrical engineering knowledge and experience
• B. Sc. or M. Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering
• A Few years working experience in relevant field
• Strong communication in English
• Electrical design software experience, E3 knowledge is an advantage
• Expertise at least in some of the following fields: 

1. circuit diagram design
2. crane engineering
3. mobile equipment engineering

• Self-driven working style 
• Good communication skills and team player-attitude
• Can-do attitude
• Enthusiasm towards new technologies is a plus

As an engineering team member you will get familiar with high tech heavy duty transportation equipment, including automated and manually operated Straddle and Shuttle Carriers. The Straddles are equipped with the latest power unit technology; diesel-electric, hybrid and fully electric driveline. We offer you a position in our local Poland based engineering team which works closely with Finland main design office and you will have a great team to support your growth professionally.
