Chief Engineer, eMobility

Purpose of the position


Chief Engineer, eMobility will drive the development of electrification of our future generation machines. The position is within the Technology function in the Kalmar Mobile Solutions business unit. The development will be done based on the customer needs, legislation and internal requirements and according to business strategies.

The Chief Engineer, eMobility will develop the eMobility team in China. The role will be based in Shanghai area or any other major Cargotec site in China. 

Position Requirements:



● Education level needs to be a Master of Science in electrical engineering or similar knowledge.


● At least 8-10 years of working experience, preferably in a global organisation
● Sound technical knowledge in electrification of material handling equipment or similar heavy machines.
● Experience of product development activities.



● System level understanding and capability to design solutions
● eMobility related legislation and regulation
● Technologies: high-voltage electric solutions, batteries, battery management systems, thermal management, traction (e-motors, inverters, gears), electro-hydraulics, charging systems, vehicle control systems etc.
● Business- and market mindset
● Good leadership and management capabilities.
● Ability to motivate and inspire people and build trust.
● Good communication skills are important.
● Should be energetic, have a good driving force and be result oriented.
● Problem solver.
● Positive attitude.
● Fluent in the local language and English both in speaking and writing.

Key Accountabilities


● Drive the development of the next generation electrification solutions
● Assess the eMobility suppliers from technology perspective and support the selection of key suppliers 
● Explore, test and validate modules and systems for electrification 
● Responsible for planning and performing design activities and development projects to agreed costs, and deliveries according to time schedule requirements
● Lead assigned projects
● Design documentation including approvals and applicable risk analysis
● Work for platform commonality within the KAMOS business unit, in collaboration with the R&D teams, Operations and Sourcing
● In charge of budget, actual cost and forecast for own area of operation
● Lead and manage the daily operations of the local eMobility team
