Project Manager

Purpose of the position

 

The position has overall responsibility for the project deliverables including project financials, scope and schedule from the project start to the delivery (handover to the Line Organization). The Project Manager will also manage and lead allocated project teams, and maintain the relationship with colleagues within the Division and more broadly within KALMAR SBU. This position reports to the Manager, Programs and Engineering Process. The position will be based in Ottawa, Kansas, USA. Part of the work will be executed remotely with the cross-functional teams.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Lead and be responsible for executing complex and non-standard projects of new product development
  • Overall responsibility for the project deliverables including project financials, scope and schedule.
  • Set project baseline and schedule, and ensure ownership and acceptance of responsibility from all stakeholders
  • Responsible for continuous risk management in the project
  • Responsible for managing changes and variations to the project
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Lead and manage project team members, who are often geographically dispersed in different time zones
  • Provide project updates on a recurring basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution

What you’ll need to succeed

 

  • Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Science or similar interest and experience
  • 5+ years proven operational experience and results in project management of complex projects within a manufacturing environment. PMP or Prince2 certification is beneficial, but not mandatory
  • Engineering experience is beneficial, but not mandatory
  • Can-do attitude and the ability to approach challenges with enthusiasm and tenacity.
  • High level of interpersonal relationship skills
  • High level ability for cross- functional team collaboration
  • Team-leading abilities
  • Drive and results oriented
  • Ability and willingness to deepen technical understanding
  • Excellence in written and oral communication--able to distill key information into summary reports
  • Passion for project management
  • Tactful negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Will be required to work closely with other TT RDE personnel, Sourcing & Production groups worldwide
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally
