Salary: Starting @ $110,000/year (annual bonus eligibility)

Purpose of Position:

The Principal System Engineer (PSE), Electric Drive Controls is responsible for leading the design, verification, and validation of vehicle control systems related to high voltage systems to support our next generation of electrically driven Terminal Tractors (TT). This senior level engineer will demonstrate a broad understanding of systems and system-interactions across the product, and the ability to dig deeply into the technical details and fundamental physics to design world-class controls systems alongside our powertrain, pneumatics and hydraulics, cabin, and structural engineering teams. The PSE will be involved in all phases of the development lifecycle: technology strategic planning, system architectures, design of subsystems, and sustaining of product designs. Also, to assist in other related development tasks as needed.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for control system development for all product lines within the Terminal Tractor Business Line. Including but not limited to component selection, programming of electronic control modules, schematics, harnesses, interfaces with other components, etc.. 
  • In consultation with responsible Development Manager
    • Develop and maintain system and subsystem models
    • Support development of control systems architecture and system topology
    • Plan and perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedule.
    • Lead feature design work and contribute to design reviews
  • Verification and validation of vehicle control system functions using SIL and HIL simulation
  • Support investigation of field issues as needed

 

What you’ll need to succeed

 

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Software, Electronics, or Controls Engineering required

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in design and development of EV components used in mobile equipment
  • Experience with System Modeling using Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience in C, C++ or with other IDE’s
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira, Confluence preferred

 

Competencies:

  • Strong aptitude toward control system logic, 7-layer OSI model, software development V model
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical system topologies
  • Working knowledge of CAN bus, Fieldbus, Isobus, and other control protocols
  • Strong aptitude for learning new software tools to complete above responsibilities
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written
