Principal System Engineer, Electrics

Purpose of Position:
Development and coordination of Systems design for Electrics and Power Electrics regarding products within Terminal Tractor (TT) Business Line and between Business Lines in Kalmar based on customer needs, legislation and internal requirements and according to business strategies.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- To define specifications for components and systems in co-operation with Chief Engineers and responsible Product Development Managers.
- Set up development plans for components and systems.
- Secure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal demands for Terminal Tractor products (TT).
- Coordinate a way of working regarding components and used systems.
- Contact responsibility for service, production and supplier issues.
- Check and approve purchase drawings regarding design requirements and standards.
- In consultation with the responsible Product Development Manager, plan and perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedule.
- To ensure cooperation across all Kalmar Business Lines and Supply including both sourcing and operations.
- Responsibility for regularly reporting to the responsible Product Development Manager regarding outcome and possible deviations.
- According to customer demands, choose design solutions, material and components.
- In consultation with the responsible Product Development Manager, purchase components for tests and evaluations.
- In consultation with the responsible Product Development Manager, perform customer and supplier visits.
- Initiate and order testing for verification and evaluation of a design.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience:
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems related to mobile equipment preferred
- Experience of product development for low voltage and high voltage vehicle electrical systems is required.
- 5+ years in new product development experience preferred
Competencies:
- Good skills in 3D CAD systems, CATIA V5 experience preferred
- Good skills in Electrical design CAD systems. Zuken E3 experience preferred.
