Purpose of the position
Kalmar Solutions LLC. The leading global supplier of container & load handling equipment and services, is seeking a Logistics Supervisor.
Based in the Ottawa, Kansas USA region, this position will drive optimization of logistics for the Assembly Plant to ensure efficient logistics from a safety, quality, cost, and resources with a compliance perspective. This includes collaboration with internal operations and functions along with transportation providers and material suppliers.
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Optimize logistics flow for the Kalmar site, which includes an assembly plant and warehouse storage or other sites working with Industrial Engineering, Warehousing and Material Planning to include loop sizes
• Evaluate and implement best practices between Kalmar and suppliers for inbound shipping in terms of mode, size of shipment, frequency and scheduling in order to optimize utilization of Full Truck Load (FTL) and reduce reliance on Less than Truck Load (LTL)
• Maintains an understand of shipping lanes for implementing routing and load planning with suppliers and carriers with daily and weekly shipping cadences
• Manage returnable rack and container operations (supplier set up, flow, storage and maintenance)
• Working with Sourcing to enhance supplier management related to shipments and material optimizations
• Monitor supplier performance (e.g. on-time delivery, load utilization) and drive supplier development, with corrective actions that are in line Policies and Procedures set forth with Sourcing
• Direct personnel for Material receipts, storage, preparation for line side presentation, returnable management and loading returns
• Work with Indirect Sourcing to ensure the carrier transportation base is sufficient for all modes of transportation to optimize freight savings
• Active utilization of the Kalmar Transportation Management System within Kalmar and by the carrier base
• Identifies and implements opportunities for further logistics optimization in terms of consolidation and inventory management
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
Experience:
• Supply Chain and / or Logistics Operations
• North American Freight requirements related to Supply Chain or Logistics
• Transportation Management System software applications
