Logistics Manager

Purpose of the position
Develop material planning and logistic global strategy and provide best practices to all sites, be part of the global leadership team. Develop people and processes in MP&L following the best lean practices in the industry.
Main tasks and responsibilities
• Provide Material Planning & Logistic teams the functional knowledge including new model launch planning, change control, bill of material, parts follow-up, shop floor scheduling, inventory planning, distribution, logistics, material handling, packaging, and industrial material to support the plant assembly processes with production and non-production materials.
• Meet Kalmar production system, QS 9000, ISO 14001, other guidelines and regulations
• Coordinate deliveries between manufacturing sites and Kalmar’s 3PL providers
• Develop Supply Chain strategy for Ottawa, KS site in line with the strategic targets and future expansion and/or modification of the plant’s MP&L equipment, resources, and or future facilities to determine the effect on MP&L operations
• Collaborate cross-functionally to design a pro-active material planning strategy, that will allow flexibility to production and our customer
• Develop planning and supplier delivery KPI’s to evaluate performance and stablish action plans supporting Ottawa, KS planning and sourcing team to improve supplier performance.
• Review future manufacturing requirements and recommend to the plant management the most economical work patterns related to receiving, repacking, kitting, sequencing 2 Bin material flows.
• Develop department policy deployment objectives, Master Schedule, Implementation Roadmaps
• Participate with Supply Chain Mgmt. scheduling, customers, and plant when there are production critical supply issues.
• Support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Environment (SQDCPE) objectives and operating systems implementation
• Prepare the MP&L team for the challenges ahead with a strong focus on people by coaching and mentoring employees as required.
• Strong ability to interface with plant hourly, salaried personnel, plant management, staff operations, logistic carriers, and production suppliers
• Continuously work on improvement of inventory levels and inventory accuracy
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Supply Chain is required with a certification in logistics or planning preferred (APIC’s, CPIM)
• Degrees in Material Planning and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Material Handling/Packaging, Engineering, Business Administration, Industrial Operations, Logistics is desirable
Additional Requirements:
• 10 years’ experience required as leader in Material planning and logistics in automotive, truck or heavy equipment industry with strong lean manufacturing requirements
• Former experience in scheduling, distribution, supply chain, inventory planning, bill of material, change control, new model launch, logistics, material handling line feed processes, non-production stores, material flow.
• Strong analytical skills and quick decision-making capability
• Good problem-solving skills and continuous improvement mentality
• Need to work well under pressure and to be able to work under crisis management when necessary
• Proficient in computer applications (ERP system, Google or Windows 365 etc...)
• Having a long-term interest in Material Planning and Logistics career desired
• Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibilities outside of initial job description
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment
• Travel frequency 50% of the time
