Junior Project Manager

Purpose of the position

Kalmar (KAMOS) is a pioneer in container and industrial material handling, offering the widest range of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centres and to heavy industry.  For one of our Divisions, Terminal Tractor, a market leader in its segments, we are looking for a Junior Project Manager.

 

The Junior project manager is responsible for managing the overall execution of product improvement and product lifetime care projects, primarily focusing on quality, cost, and schedule. The assigned tasks will vary depending upon the magnitude of the assigned project(s) and the nature of the project objective. The Junior Project Manager will also manage and lead allocated project teams, and maintain the relationship with colleagues within the Division and more broadly within KAMOS SBU. This position reports to the Projects Director in the TT Division.

 

The position will be based in in our location in Ottawa, US. Part of the work will be executed remotely with the cross functional teams.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Leads and is responsible for executing various complex and non-standard projects of product improvement parallel.

Develops project organizational structure based on the overall objective of the project.

Organizes and mobilizes project teams which may be comprised of internal and external (contractors/consultants) resources.

Develops and maintains project master plan in conjunction with team leads that outlines tasks, milestones, and schedules.

Manages the overall execution of projects to ensure they are completed in accordance with the project plan and business strategic and/or tactical objectives.

Manages Project Teams to ensure adequate support is provided to the project and timely execution is accomplished.

Responsible for continuous risk management in the project.

Responsible for managing changes and variations in the project

Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress

Cooperates heavily with Division’s RDE and Operations teams.

Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution

What you’ll need to succeed:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Science/Economy or similar interest and experience

2+ years proven operational experience and results in project management of complex projects within a manufacturing environment, PMP or Prince2 certification is beneficial, but not mandatory

Engineering experience is beneficial, but not mandatory

Can-do attitude and the ability to approach challenges with enthusiasm and tenacity.

High level of interpersonal relationship skills

High level ability for cross functional team collaboration. Team-leading abilities

Drive and result oriented

Excellence in presentation and communication -able to make sharp summaries 

Passion for project management

Negotiation skills

Fluent in English
