Purpose of the position

To perform, track and/or, at times, oversee engineering tasks related to Customer Engineering (CE), for both Diesel and Electric powered Kalmar Terminal Tractors globally based on customer needs, legislation, and internal requirements.

Main tasks and responsibilities

●    Responsible for the design of mechanical vehicle subsystems and components.
●    Secure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal demands for Terminal Tractor products (TT). 
●    In consultation with responsible Manager or Chief Engineer
o    Respond to service, production and supplier issues. 
o    Plan and perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedule.
o    Perform customer and supplier visits. 
o    Initiate and order testing for verification and evaluation of a design.
o    Coordinate components and systems design between TT products.
●    Contribute toward co-operation between TT RDE and Supply including both sourcing and assembly 
●    Responsibility for regularly reporting outcome and possible deviations. 
●    Be a technical resource for the overall product and application of Kalmar Terminal Tractors.
●    Candidate may be asked to lead CE project tasks assigned to internal engineers, external engineers and other personnel. Also, the candidate may be required to perform some of these tasks simultaneously..

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:
●    Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Experience:
●    2+ years in mechanical and/or electrical design
●    Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems related to
Mobile equipment
●    Licensed PE or ability to obtain PE license preferred
Competencies:
●    Strong background in working in a project based product development environment and process
●    Strong understanding of assembly processes and good understanding of manufacturing processes
●    Strong skills in 3D CAD systems, CATIA V5  experience preferred
●    Good understanding of structural analysis and testing
●    Fluent in English both spoken and written
