$115,000 - $130,000 

This can be a remote position.

Purpose of the position

Acts as legal counsel for Kalmar Americas Region and Terminal Tractor Division, as the first point of contact in all legal matters for the business, and ensures their issues are solved efficiently and with high quality.  Actively drives continuous development and implementation of processes, practices and tools used within Kalmar Legal.
 

Main tasks and responsibilities

●    Responsible for legal support in reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of contracts including, sales agreements, purchasing agreements (both direct and indirect) , NDAs, and other contracts;  as also responsible for dispute and litigation management in the Americas region
●    Establish strong relationships and trust with key business stakeholders and proactively support their decision making from a legal perspective 
●    Implementation of legal policies and processes in conjunction with other Kalmar attorneys
●    Implementation of legal processes, practices and controls within the Kalmar Americas region and educating the organization with legal matters
●    Function as US law specialist in Kalmar legal team; provide US law support to other Kalmar attorneys as well as Cargotec attorneys

What you’ll need to succeed

Education:
•    Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited university, or foreign equivalent
•    Maintain in good standing a license to practice law in one state in which Kalmar currently has operations/employees or willingness to sit for applicable bar exam with an understanding that continued employment is contingent upon receipt of license to practice law within negotiated time frame

Experience:
•    2-4 years’ of commercial law experience in a global environment, preferably from a heavy industry sector or global industrial firm with European parent company
•    Latin American business law experience preferred

Competencies:
•    Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
•    Understanding of and experience with distribution/dealers, supply chain, equipment sales, services and software licensing and willingness to learn more.
•    Experience with regulatory issues relevant to the industry.
•    Corporate generalist experience including reviewing, drafting and negotiating various types of contracts, compliance including trade compliance, IPR, litigation management, risk management, and products liability.
•    Position will be required to conduct subject matter training for the business; recognize when subject matter expertise is needed from outside counsel; exercise independent judgment and initiative; and recognize when involvement of higher level management is appropriate, necessary and/or mandated.
•    Tries new ways to do things: exercises creative problem solving.

•    Cuts through complexity: explains the situation or data in a way that is easy to understand, sees useful connections in data or situations that others miss and identifies the key issues that need to be tackled.
•    Improves service: asks for business client feedback and takes action for improvement beyond normal expectations; and makes a real attempts to add value.
•    Understands the market: makes efforts to learn about the market, customers, suppliers, etc., is aware of what current competitors are doing, knows what differentiates own organization from the competition and identifies the unique added value one’s organization can bring to the market.
