Application Engineer, Terminal Tractors

Kalmar is looking for a Application Engineer, Terminal Tractors who will be providing services in defined engineering discipline to support engineering design, development, and project delivery and completion.

Key accountabilities


  • Provide engineered solutions for customer requests
  • In coordination with the Chief Engineer, research and provide answers to questions received from sales, dealers and customers. These requests may be presented through KIS Requests, application surveys, by the Chief Engineers, through written or verbal contact with the Sales group, dealers and/or customers or onsite customer visits.
  • Create and maintain documentation needed to support sales, dealers and customers.
  • When needed, coordinate with the Prototype and Test group for prototyping of new designs. This may require coordinating with Sourcing to procure new parts.
  • Coordinate the release of new designs with the Operations, Sourcing, Order Management and Aftersales teams.
  • Suggest overall product improvements, such as features that customers want, to the TT engineering management team.
  • Review solutions with senior engineers and project managers when necessary.
  • Following standard procedures for proper escalation of unanswered requests to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to succeed:




  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering



  • 3+ years in design experience preferred
  • Licensed PE or ability to obtain PE license preferred



  • Strong understanding of energy utilization in reference to mobile electrical vehicles preferred
  • Strong understanding of assembly processes and good understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Good skills in 3D CAD systems, CATIA V5 experience preferred
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or more advanced computation tools
  • Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems related to
  • mobile equipment preferred
  • Good organization skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written
  • Strong problem solving skills




  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally will be required
