Principal Systems Engineer, Electrics and Power Electrics

Kalmar, the leading global supplier of container & load-handling equipment and services, is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer, Electrics and Power Electrics 

Purpose of the position

Development and coordination of Systems design for Electrics and Power Electrics regarding products within own Business Line Terminal Tractor (TT) and between Business Lines in Mobile Equipment division (ME) based on customer needs, legislation and internal requirements and according to business strategies.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop components and systems.
  • To define specification for components and systems in co-operation with Chief Engineers and responsible R&D Manager.
  • Set up Development plan for components and Systems.
  • Secure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal demands for Terminal Tractor products (TT).
  • Coordinate components and systems design between ME products.
  • Coordinate within group way of working regarding components and used systems.
  • Contact responsibility for service, production and supplier issues.
  • Check and approve purchase drawings regarding standards.
  • In consultation with responsible R&D Manager plan and perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedule.
  • To ensure co-operation between ME R&D and Supply including both sourcing and operations.
  • Responsibility for regularly reporting to responsible R&D Manager regarding outcome and possible deviations.
  • According to customer demands choose design solutions, material and components.
  • In consultation with responsible R&D Manager purchase component for test and evaluations.
  • In consultation with responsible R&D Manager perform customer and supplier visits.
  • Initiate and order testing for verification and evaluation of a design.

We expect from you


  • Education level needs to be university degree corresponding to area of responsibility.



  • Sound technical knowledge regarding ME product types or similar rubber tire vehicles.
  • Experience of product development for low voltage and high voltage vehicle electrical systems is required.
  • Experiences from similar tasks are qualifying.
  • Experiences regarding other Kalmar products are qualifying.
