Assistant Controller

Based in Ottawa, KS, this position reports to the Market Area North America (MANA) Controller and provides support to both the Global Terminal Tractor (TT) Division and MANA businesses in all aspects of the financial / managerial accounting and reporting functions for both entities.   

Assists the MANA Controller in all aspects of the TT and MANA financial / managerial accounting and reporting with an emphasis on financial planning and analysis (FP&A).   The position functions include assisting the MANA Controller with establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures as well as generating, analyzing, reviewing and communicating financial data that reflects actual financial performance against forecast and budget.  The Assistant Controller communicates financial data to internal/external contacts and agencies as required.  

•    Assists with the analysis of current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
•    Works with individual cost center owners to prepare monthly rolling cost budgets in Adaptive Insight - GCP, consolidating them into an overall entity budget and assisting in analyzing variances. 
•    Assists in the preparation and reporting of monthly financial data to internal and external contacts via SAP, Hyperion (HFM), Google and special reports in accordance with Cargotec standards and deadlines.  
•    Assists in communicating, monitoring and enforcing Cargotec accounting policies and procedures
•    Supports and monitors basic financial accounting services for SAP GL, AR and AP provided by an internal 3rd party service provider (CBS) to ensure monthly accounting results accurately reflect entity operations.
•    Assists in the annual master plan process including analyzing and reviewing external demand requirements and proposed annual operating plans, and coordinating/reporting of master plan information to management.    
•    Supports key managers with financial data and analysis for making business decisions for their areas of responsibility.
•    Responds to tax and audit requests for information as required. 
•    Performs special duties/projects as required.
 

What you’ll need to succeed:

•    Bachelor degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Business is required.  
•    Five (5+) years' experience as staff accountant in a large ($200 million) corporation and/or multi-national corporation experience desired. 
•    Proficiency with upper-tier accounting systems (SAP, LN, BAAN, Oracle, etc.) is desired.
•    Working knowledge of Hyperion Enterprise, Adaptive Insight - GCP, Excel Smart View, Basware P2P, Google and similar systems is desired.
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, to include Pivot Tables, is required.  
•    Good spoken and written English communication skills is required.
•    Ability to understand and work within large, cross-functional, corporation process flows and controls is required.
