Service Operations and Service Sales Director, IMEA

Purpose of the position


To lead the service operations and service sales in the IMEA region, with particular emphasis on safety, customer satisfaction and profitability. The job holder will lead and inspire their team to implement and meet strategic operational goals; to exceed customer expectations for service delivery & quality, commercial growth, cost and delivery, health and safety, maximising efficiency, optimising and driving service excellence.




  • Safety - Ensure a strong safety culture is maintained, exceeding both local legal requirements and company targets.  Operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well being of employees.
  • Business development - Develop and implement initiatives to allow increased productivity, efficiency, service excellence and adapt to changing business and customer needs.  
  • Contract Management – continuously develop our operations in contracts and ensure customer satisfaction by proactively drive further value creation for both parties
  • Standards – Comply with all Legal and company standards, such as code of conduct and management control standards
  • Leadership - Build a culture in line with the company’s goals that recognises the of value of individuals and teams through reward, recognition and career development
  • Staff development -  Work closely with HR to implement a plan for continuous development of staff including; coaching, training and performance management. Actively develop the talent pipeline within the Service function.
  • Sales – Support service sales, MEQ and APD sales as required. Promote service products through operational activities.
  • Market - Maintain up to date knowledge and commercial awareness of industry developments and involvement in internal and external networks. Monitor service market shares.
  • Customers – Build and maintain close relationships with the customer base. Develop an understanding of the customer's business and needs.
  • Budget – To meet or exceed annual Service sales and service operations budget. Prepare budgets and forecasts as required.
  • Strategy - Implement strategic objectives, budget achievement and targets within Service through effective planning, coaching, training, process improvement and performance management.
  • Collaboration - Work closely with the regional management team, service colleagues and business lines to cultivate strong relationships to build continued and sustainable business growth. 

What you’ll need to succeed




  • Technical or Commercial qualification to Degree level.




  • Demonstrable experience of leading a service function with a proven track record in business development, strategic leadership delivering effective strategies, policies, processes and systems 
  • Knowledge and technical understanding of material handling equipment or service industry.
  • Experience in dealing with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in working in multinational environment 


Key tasks

  • The position requires traveling for at least one week per month to the key countries to meet the local service teams. In addition traveling for at least one week per month to other countries in the region for customer and dealer visits is required.
  • Have one on one meetings with each of the team members on a weekly basis
  • Lead monthly Service Sales and Service Operations team meetings and safety meetings
  • Participate in MALT meetings and other management meetings
  • Participate in weekly and monthly meetings with the Services Business Line teams
  • Ensure effective communication to staff and feedback in terms of corporate and Business Services objectives and performance
  • Coach team member on the organization’s products and services; procedures, and standards that will help them to understand our products
  • Participate in customer negotiations for large service contracts in the region
  • Daily involvement in developing the service business in the region
