Kalmar is looking for a Tax Manager to join the Corporate Tax Department. The position is a full-time permanent position, based at Kalmar’s headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. In this position you will be participating in global tax related assignments to ensure that Kalmar’s tax management complies with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations. The main focus in this position will be on VAT and other indirect taxes, with the opportunity to expand your scope to cover certain direct tax areas based on your preferences and the group’s needs.

 

Right now, Cargotec is planning to separate its core businesses Kalmar and Hiab into two standalone companies. This is a great time to join us, as you will be part of a large-scale demerger project filled with interesting and business critical tasks and projects.

 

The position is located in Helsinki, Finland.

Main tasks and responsibilities

 

  • Provide day-to-day support to in-house stakeholders in respect of indirect tax
  • Provide strategic leadership and implement best practices for managing indirect tax processes in the group
  • Advise on VAT implications of complex goods/service deliveries, business model changes and new business initiatives
  • Offer training and guidance as well as develop internal instructions with regard to indirect tax
  • Monitor legislative changes and assess their impacts on Kalmar
  • Manage tax audits
  • Support the group tax team with ad-hoc projects and initiatives
  • Manage the implementation and maintenance of tax related tools and technologies where necessary.


The Tax Manager will work in accordance with the overall tax strategy to ensure that the organization meets its obligations and objectives. Staying updated on evolving tax laws, regulations and guidelines, as well as sharing your knowledge with other team members is essential.

What you’ll need to succeed

 

The position requires daily communication with external tax consultants, tax authorities as well as Kalmar colleagues globally, so good communication skills, fluency in English and ability to work efficiently in (virtual/traditional) teams are crucial to succeed in the position.

 

Ideally you should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate taxation, including solid experience in indirect tax
  • Experience in transfer pricing and other areas of direct tax is seen as an advantage
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of one’s own projects/initiatives
  • Master’s degree in law, economics, accounting or business administration.
