Market Area Procurement Lead, USA & Canada

We are currently looking for an experienced Market Area Procurement Lead, USA & Canada to join our team of professionals. In this role, you will lead and will be responsible for Procurement activities in a specific market area and ensure that business needs are fulfilled in a high quality manner by local purchasing personnel and category managers for direct (DM) and indirect (IM) material, as well as by Cargotec Business Service (CBS). You will be securing that best practices, policies and compliance are in place and followed in alignment with both corporate and business area sourcing/procurement, as well as customers’ needs and expectations.

You will be reporting to the Kalmar Head of Indirect, Sales and Markets Procurement.

The role could be based in one of Cargotec’s offices across USA and Canada.


Main tasks and responsibilities:

●    Responsible for Procurement in specific market area and Indirect Procurement in MAU Ottawa
●    Make Market Area Sourcing Strategy based on Market Area’s overall strategy. Communicate, align and ensure implementation in Market Area & Global Sourcing
●    Make Multi Assembly Unit/factory (MAU) Ottawa Indirect Sourcing Strategy based on MAU Ottawa and Indirect Procurement strategies. Communicate, align and ensure implementation in MAU Ottawa
●    To have a holistic understanding of the stakeholders business needs in the market area and ensure that procurement needs are fulfilled in a high quality manner in cooperation with category managers
●    Ensure coordination between Market Area, Services, MAU and Category teams
●    Establish and lead Market Area Procurement team established from country purchasers
●    Build and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders
●    To secure that best practices, policies and compliance are adhered to in the applicable Market area sourcing and in alignment with corporate and business area sourcing/procurement
●    Active member and participation within the Sales and Markets Area Procurement team as well as Indirect Procurement teams
●    Responsible contact person for procurement tools use in the Market Area and MAU Ottawa
●    Responsible for executing and supporting sourcing project requests from customers, vendors and colleagues
●    Provide support for tactical and strategic sourcing activities 
●    Identify process improvements
●    Recognize unusual events or consistent problems and work with manager to resolve issues

What you’ll need to succeed:

 

Education and experience:
●    Minimum Bachelor degree in Finance or Business
●    3+ years of experience in sourcing area, in particular related to sourcing and/or category management


Competencies:
●    Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills 
●    Strong analytical, problem solving, organisational and communication skills.
●    Knowledge in budget, cost & performance management
●    Sourcing process execution knowledge, understanding of pricing models, contracting support execution 
●    Understanding of Category work 
●    Understanding in contracting and vendor management
●    Good influencing and negotiation skills.
●    Microsoft Office, Google Office tools as an advantage
●    Taking initiative in a proactive manner to improve own and team work practices
●    Full professional proficiency of written and oral English required
●    Display a strong work ethic and ability to comply with internal controls and policies
●    International mind-set
