Purpose of the position

 

Overall responsibility of the control system architecture for Kalmar Mobile Solutions.
Understanding the customer and market requirements and standards for the product and preparing and guiding product investment decisions. Safeguarding the strategic targets stated in Technology strategy and ensuring the deliverability of the solutions. Work as a key player between product line R&D teams aligning the product roadmaps for adopting the solution.

 

Key accountabilities:

 

Architect, control systems, is responsible for:

 

Definitions:

  • Control system architecture
  • Key requirements for the target control system
  • Standards to be met in the target architecture
  • Development budget and timeline
  • Product implementation timeline
  • Needed competences in product line R&D teams

 

Development: 

 

  • Development process for the control system versions implemented in the product lines
  • Delivery setup
  • Quality assurance and user acceptance
  • Product lifecycle management.
     
What you’ll need to succeed:

 

Education

 

  • Master’s degree in engineering, automation, system’s design or similar

 

Experience

 

  • At least 10 years of working experience, in hydraulics and control system engineering in heavy machinery industry
  • Familiar with development methods, tools and processes on diverse and distributed teams
  • Attention to detail required to produce best-of-breed solutions
  • Shows commitment and determination in his/her daily activities

 

Competencies

 

  • Customer service mindset
  • Good spoken and written communication skills
  • Capability to understand, identify and crystallize customer needs and hidden needs
  • General IT skills, understanding of field service tools, ERP systems, IoT platforms, and other systems and platforms used in service business
  • A thorough knowledge of the business processes and operations in area of responsibility
  • Ability to work under pressure to keep agreed deadlines
  • Ability to work in international environment
  • Fluent in English, preferably also in Finnish or Swedish (written and spoken)
