We are looking for an HSE Specialist to provide expert knowledge and skills in order to generate and promote a positive Environment, Health & Safety culture across the organization. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of systems to ensure compliance with all existing environment, health & safety initiatives and local legislation.


Your responsibilities will include timely reporting to management on any safety accident, incidents, near misses, unsafe acts and environmental status in line with corporate KPIs. You will act as the Functional Safety Lead (ASPP) across the Value Streams in alignment with the external Safety Officer (RSPP), as well as be the lead site representative in all communication and coordination with the local health and safety authorities (local/governmental regulator body).


This position is based in Kalmar's office in Genoa, Italy, with availability to travel to Kalmar sites in Europe and to other customer sites in Italy.


Main tasks and responsibilities:


  • Development, implementation and maintenance of a system for hazard identification and risk assessment on existing and new processes;
  • Coordination and support in the closure of health and safety root causes and risk assessments in alignment with value stream safety representative(s);
  • Responsible for the effectiveness of Company's EH&S policies, strategies & goals in compliance with legislative and company requirements.
  • Facility management, on-site EH&S improvement and engagement, as well as promotion of a culture of safety awareness in a collaborative way;
  • Identify and ensure delivery of the H&S training program across the site, ensuring statutory requirements are adhered to, taking into account best practice and site safety culture development.


What you’ll need to succeed:


As an observant influencer with good communication skills, you have experience in perseverance. You are able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and coordinate complex training activities.


Ideally you have:


  • Degree in HSE or equivalent work experience
  • Country specific certifications
  • Strong understanding of Italian safety related norms (DL81/08 – TU per la sicurezza sul lavoro)
  • Safety First attitude and mindset
  • Language skills: Native Italian;  Understanding of written and spoken English.
