Senior Product Support Engineer

Bromma is currently seeking a Senior Product Support Engineer that will be located in our Durham, North Carolina office. We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic team player to join our organization. This position will play an important part in, and contribute to the success of our US organisation. 

As a Bromma Senior Product Support Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to carry out the day to day tasks and assignments associated with providing technical support for customers, Sales, Service and Spare Parts in the Americas sales territory. This is a direct position dealing with many departments within the Bromma organization, both in the Americas and around the world.

Bromma Spreaders has a strong Swedish heritage and is the industry’s most experienced manufacturer of container spreaders and lifting equipment. Since the 1960’s, we have built thousands of fully automatic crane spreaders with an estimated 5000 units in operation globally. Bromma has delivered spreaders to more than 500 terminals in over 90 countries on 6 continents. Bromma’s spreaders are in use in 47 out of the top 50 ports worldwide.


Key Accountabilities 

  • Establish and maintain product design criteria and standards for BGS spreaders
  • Provide technical assistance to sales, service and spare parts.
  • Review the drawings prepared by the engineering departments in the Bromma for spreaders that will be shipping into the Americas territory.
  • Attend/hold technical meetings with the customer, Sales and Service and make presentations, as appropriate.
  • Prepare reference material to be sent to the engineering department in the Bromma for the design of spreader that will be shipped into the Americas territory.
  • Coordinate with Sales or Contract Administration to properly outline the scope of work for new spreader sales through the Product Configuration and Order Specification for spreader sold into the Americas territory
  • Coordinate design efforts with Sales personnel or customer representative in order to determine application demands and customer expectation.
  • Coordinate with the Contract Administrator or Sales concerning customer communications affecting the design of the product.
  • Coordinate with Service concerning problems with the mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and structural component on the product.
  • Prepare or correct programming for spreaders and testers with the help of Service.
  • Monitor applicable codes and standards dealing with the mechanical, electrical and structural parts of the product for the Americas
  • Travel to customer site to determine the demands and operating conditions of the product or to provide technical assistance for Sales personnel.
  • Travel to other Bromma Sales and Manufacturing sites to discuss design issues and new product development 
  • Travel expected to be every 4-6 weeks and can be both  domestic and international
  • Complete other associated tasks as needed

What you’ll need to succeed:


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering or related fields



  • At least 5 years of relevant business/product experience, spreader or crane control experience is a plus
  • Manufacturing/production experience is a plus
  • Experience in programming industrial PLC

Other information

  • Candidates must possess a valid State driver’s license, a valid Passport and a Transportation Workers Identification Credential. or be able to obtain them
