Lead Mechanical Technician

Purpose of the position


Kalmar is looking for a Lead Technician to join our team. The main responsibility of the lead technician will be the hands-on management of a team of technicians running onsite maintenance for the customer. Other responsibilities include acting as the team's senior technical lead, main point of contact interacting with the client's local representatives and liaise with Kalmar off-site support resources as well as managing planning and total maintenance cost for the operation (labor and parts).

What you’ll need to succeed:


●    Technical Degree or minimum of 5 years’ experience in heavy industrial equipment maintenance
●    Valid Driver’s License
●    PLC experience and interest in learning about automated systems
●    Ability to work independently
●    Good judgement, initiative and experience to deal with multi-dimensional maintenance and repair work for complex equipment and systems
●    Diagnostic and troubleshooting of Mechanical, Hydraulic and Electrical equipment
●    Computer skills specifically Google Suite
●    Ability to read blueprints and schematics drawings
●    Comfortable working at elevated heights
●    Technical aptitude for heavy equipment
●    Excellent communication skills 
●    Strong work ethic, dependability and initiative

You will be part of:


  • Supervising a team of technicians
  • Providing timely diagnostics/repair for the customers on site equipment
  • Conduct regularly scheduled preventative maintenance (the pro-active care of telemetry and sensors are extra important in an automated environment)
  • Ability to use hand, air and electrical tools; operate forklifts, small cranes and mechanical hoists as needed
  • Adherence to safe work procedures at all times
  • Achieve a high level of customer satisfaction in all that we do from delivering on promises in a timely and orderly fashion
  • Maintain accurate service records so that the performance of equipment can be monitored
  • Act as a Kalmar Ambassador at the customer site
