Project Engineer

Kalmar Spain is seeking a Mechanical or Structural Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in STS Cranes preferably (or other heavy mobile machines) to be part of his Engineering Department situated in Algeciras, Spain, to act as Project Engineer for the different projects that Kalmar Spain is running around the region covered by its Offices (SEMEA region).

The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary and international team, so the domain of English is a must. Due to the nature of the works, the candidate has to be open to travel abroad for a certain period of time, which will depend on the needs of the project.

The position is based in Algeciras but it will require travel to different countries within EMEA area. You will be reporting to our Country Director, Spain.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Structural Calculations and Structural designs for Cranes Modifications projects
• Mechanism calculation (motor, gearbox, rope drums, wire ropes, others)
• Revise and perform manufacturing drawings for the designs
• Prepare the quality control documentation for the project (Inspection Test Plan) for the steel construction execution
• Supervise and monitor the steel manufacturing process and external company’s works when needed
• Give support to the specifications for technical purchases
• Held external and internal technical meetings
• Assist the site team when needed, travelling to the site when needed.

We’re looking for someone who has the capacity and ability to adapt to the changes, priorities, and tight schedules.

Ideally you have:
 

Qualifications and Experience:

• MSc / BSc degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering
• At least 3 years of Experience in Similar Position and Similar Industry
• Experience supervising steel construction on-site and mobile cranes maneuvers with heavy structures
• Knowledge in steel structure design, manufacturing, and calculation
• Master degree or complementary education in Finite element Analysis will be highly appreciated
• Skills in FEM Analysis software such as Solid works Simulation, ANSYS, SAP2000 will be appreciated
• Full Command of English is a must
• Fluent Spanish Spoken and Written
• Advance Skills in CAD software, (2D/3D)
• Windows Office / Google standard package (excel, word, etc…).
