Category Manager

We, at Hiab are looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Category Manager to lead the development and implementation of the category strategy at Hiab with a focus on high performance and a continuous improvement mindset.

 

The role will be accountable to create, develop and execute category strategies to minimise total acquisition cost whilst maximising sustainable and operational performance across Hiab.  

Travelling, sometimes at short notice, may be part of this role.

The role can be based in Spain, Italy or Poland and will be reporting to our Category Director, Contract Manufacturing.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of the category strategy across Hiab
• Optimise Hiab/Cargotec resources over the E2E product lifecycle 
• Implement successful cross-functional leadership
• Participate in New Product Development, Supplier relationship Management (SRM), early supplier involvement and selection with technology development, productivity, total cost reduction make/buy programs, should-cost modelling, and business process and system implementation
• Manage and improve the Hiab-wide supplier performance within the category
• Identify, track and implement cost saving actions 
• Hiab-wide RFQ preparation, analysis and negotiation / business award according to delegation of authority
• Develop open book costings, budgets and raw material forecasting for the category
• Support capacity planning and scalability / flexibility planning
• Identify and develop new manufacturing partners within BCC countries to support current and future needs of the business
• Market intelligence: analyse and evaluate market and supplier / competitor trends to ensure that sourcing is based on best practice intelligence, market benchmarks
• Services Strategy Execution including branding to increase capture rate and spare part revenues.

What you’ll need to succeed

• Third level degree and/or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or business discipline
• Membership of relevant professional bodies (for example, CIPS)
• At least 7 years of relevant global industrial experience (truck, construction machines, mining,agriculture or automotive)
• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in senior sourcing roles including category management in an international and multi-site company
• Experience in working with large suppliers with global multi-site footprint and managing supplier relations and negotiations
• Excellent knowledge in sourcing methods; category and supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, analytical skills and legal/contractual knowledge in areas such as intellectual property
• Continuous improvement mindset with a business-driven and fact based approach towards suppliers with a focus on building long-term relationships
• Excellent communication, cooperation and influencing skills when working with different senior level roles internally within Hiab and Cargotec and externally with different suppliers
• Senior level development and implementation of long term business relationships and/or strategy in business or operations.
