Product Manager

Hiab’s Tail Lift business is looking for a Product Manager, who will be responsible for the product strategy/roadmap, managing the product throughout the product life cycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering and operations to deliver profitable growth. It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager’s job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals. 

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a technology and product roadmap for all assigned product/service lines
  • Quantify growth opportunities that would allow the business to participate in segments and markets that are growing faster and most profitably
  • Conduct analysis to examine competing opportunities and initiatives and make trade-off decisions on which opportunities & initiatives to pursue as part of the overall strategy
  • Conduct regular industry, market and competitor analysis, including detailed segmentations of end consumers and customers 
  • Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to review and adjust the marketing strategy, plan (including targeted programs and promotions) and countermeasures for all existing product/service lines based on performance
  • Develop and implement distribution and pricing strategies and programs to meet and exceed price, volume and share targets
  • Coordinate with the sales team to review and adjust the distribution strategy for each product/service line based on performance
  • Interacts with engineering to ensure product design, quality, reliability and profitability goals are met
  • Recommend product/service changes to the engineering or service fulfillment teams based on customer feedback, product/service line reviews or opportunities for productivity enhancement
  • Lead the monthly/quarterly sales and margin analysis and course correction plan development in order to exceed plan targets
  • Lead/coordinate efforts to understand unmet customer needs for new products/services or line extensions and make recommendations on the product/service features that need to be developed/included
  • Initiate projects for new or updated products/services or line extensions and prioritize portfolio of projects under development on a regular basis
  • Lead the execution of the required analyses to determine the recommended prices and pricing policies for new or updated products/services or extensions
  • Coordinate with the marketing and sales teams to develop and implement a marketing strategy and plan (including targeted programs and promotions) for each new or updated product/service or extension
  • Lead the launch of new or updated products/services or line extensions and ensure that all the volume, profitability and quality targets defined in the respective business cases are met or exceeded
  • Guide all projects for new or updated products/services or line extensions through the Phase gate process
  • Provide leadership to drive consistency in NPD process, DTC, quality and reliability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
What you’ll need to succeed:

To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will need to have minimum 10 years of experience in senior product management roles in a complex multinational environment delivering differentiated, market leading products, as well as change management experience.

The perfect candidate would also possess:

  • Engineering degree and/or Business degree 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in senior product management roles in a complex multinational environment delivering differentiated, market leading products
  • Ability to lead and inspire through influence
  • Technical interest and understanding of product in portfolio
  • Knowledge of business principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Capable of analyzing end user and channel segments to identify and target the most profitable segments
  • Product Life-Cycle Management-Understanding of how products move through their lifecycle and how to maximize margin at each stage
  • Proven experience in developing and executing pricing strategy
  • Knowledge of methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales systems
  • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes that impact product availability, quality and profitability 
  • Financial acumen to understand and influence key P&L and business case drivers. Experience of analysis and reporting of financial data. Understand product full stream financial metrics and levers to quickly identify areas of concern and develop necessary actions to maintain product profitability
  • Experience of statistics, and its applications to analyzing data
  • Leadership in matrix organisation
  • Cross Cultural and experience in leveraging diversity – Demonstrated ability to lead multi-cultural teams in different sites globally and leverage diversity and cultural differences to bring the team to a new higher level to meet global demands
  • Preferably a background from product management with experience from developing and launching digital offerings.
