Purpose of the position
The Lean Manufacturing and EHS Specialist will map, document, and evaluate internal processes in order to identify areas of improvement in both operations and safety. This
individual will serve as support and back-up for various activities relative to the supporting process, efficiencies, creating operational scale, and technology enhancements. They will work directly with the safety, business and management teams to produce key deliverables such as current and future state process documentation as well as conducting some gap analysis. Employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Lean Manufacturing:
- Supports the overall lean six sigma program for the business
- Identifies and implements lean six sigma improvement activities on the shop floor
- Facilitates continuous improvement events and workshops
- Works on projects both individually and cross functionally
- Create and maintain departmental process documentation and standard operating procedures
- Manage the overall logistics associated with the project intake process from idea through project initiation
- Partner with project stakeholders as needed to support project analysis, initiation, and delivery
- Willingness to be creative as the Company develops key processes and best practices
- Trains workforce on the various tools of lean six sigma
- Implements CI/Lean method projects on the shop floor in a wide variety of areas (5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, DMS, etc.) with bottom line impact
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
EHS:
- Administer Internal Audit Program to Maintain ISO and OSHA compliance
- Maintain all EHS processes and policies to minimize/ eliminate safety risks and occupational hazards associated with work practices
- Supervise the generation of Risk Assessments and track progress throughout the site
- Establish and maintain facility records for occupational and environmental health and safety, including documentation on training and certifications
- Perform periodic safety inspections and compliance audits
- Assess EHS training needs in conjunction with EHS Director and ensure all employees receive necessary and required training. Coordinate and/or administer training
- Assist in Investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine the cause and recommend changes to work practices, equipment, and work areas to eliminate future safety risks
- Serve as the primary contact for both internal EHS
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- Business or technical relevant University degree
Working experience:
- 3 to 5 years of practical experience with lean methods/Continuous Improvement in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, project management software required
- Able to construct Value Stream Maps (current and future states), identify improvements and lead cross functional teams in developing improvements
- Background in manufacturing, automation, or other continuous processes
- Able to perform business analytics and connect problem solving and continuous improvement activities to a business case
- Ability to communicate individually and in group settings
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels within the organization and with external vendors
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to lead and facilitate cross functional teams
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement concepts
Skills and competencies:
- High potential team player, with service oriented passion, while highly organized and skilled in multitasking, and high quality deliverables
- Skilled at documenting and optimizing business processes, facilitating teams, and preparing communications.Knowledge of Google Drive and share point, and how to use
- Specific expertise with continuous processes and Daily Management
- Ability to lead/train on Root Cause problem solving
- Ability to lead/train on SPC and Six Sigma methods
